Chinese Postcard 1

BTW, I made the stamp this afternoon. Not very good, but my name isn't the easiest for stamp making. :( Will have it professionally done next time in Taiwan.
Media: Chinese brush pen.
a place for Amanda's sketches and some random thoughts.

I have no idea what it says (or mis-says), but I like it. There is just something about this style that I like. The bold brush strokes. It always seems so simple, though I realize that it takes a long time to master it.
Keep up the good work.
Actually this one took less than 2 minutes to draw, and another minute to write. It was that simple. :)
It's easy to mistake it as traditional Chinese brush painting (which is hard) because of the style and paper. This postcard painting is a recent Japanese invention, and it encourages the average Japanese to create art without fear. One can paint whatever he likes (in my case, my lamp), and there is no rule on how lines should be drawn. One can even use pencil or pen, in fact! The style, however, has to "look" traditional along with some brush pen writing.
So much freedom in this art form! No wonder it took over Japan in no time.
