Our Living Room v.2

Beside using 140lb cold-pressed watercolor paper, I skipped technical pen and applied Winsor & Newton Artists' Watercolor (my new watercolor set! :) directly. As usual, the end result is not quite what I had in mind, even though it's better than last time. :( Well, at least I've learned from my mistakes and should do a better job next time.
Media: pencil, watercolor.

Hey Amanda - I didn't think this doodle was as bad as your description made it out to be! But I will confess that it doesn't really capture that room. As for your couch colour theory...if I block out the couch with a coffee cup it still doesn't resonate.
Two things I noticed - rendering of the fireplace doesn't give me much feeling of depth from the wall.
The perspective angles of the roof/wall seem a little wacky. I think the effect is that it makes the room seem too open. That room has always felt more cabin-y to me.
Nah, this one sucks in so many way, but I did learn a few things from it. What you said about the depth and perspective angles are all true. Gotta work on the living room again one of these days.
